So, I am on bedrest, and the childcare is all up to Joey - I haven't been upstairs in 4 days! So, it was up to him to get both kids down for naps today. Since Anna was going to a movie with a friend after nap, we convinced her that she needed to hurry up and go to sleep, by herself. So, Joey went to put Will down. He laid down with him for a few minutes, and then left him to fall asleep on his own, as we always do.
A few minutes later - some noise from Will's room (which is right above ours). Joey went up and found him with the light on playing with his Matchbox cars on the floor. Joey told him to get back in bed, and turned the light back off.
Just as Joey got settled in downstairs - more noise from Will's room. Joey went back up. The light was back on, Will in the floor playing with his Matchbox cars. So, Joey told Will to get back in his bed, and duct taped the light switch off.
As Joey gets settled again, (remember, I have to stay in bed), more noise from Will's room - although a little quieter this time. Joey goes back up to find Will about to peel the last bit of duct tape off the light switch. Needless to say, Will was in big trouble and the cars were removed from his room. After this, he took a nice long much-needed nap, and woke up in a great mood.
Life lesson - duct tape won't stop a 2yo boy, but persistence and a stern daddy will, eventually.
