Morning Walks

Since we are all home most days, and I have mostly recovered from delivery, we decided to start taking walks each morning for us all to get some fresh air and exercise.

Recently, Will has learned how to steer his "tractor" so we let him take it on yesterday's walk, but left it in slow gear to let him practice steering before we gave him too much speed. We learned that slow gear is a little too slow, as we were all having to wait for him, and he got bored before we made it home. Daddy ended up going home and coming back with the truck to pick up the tractor and take it home. So, today, he took it in high gear on the walk, after a head-on collision with the Yukon before ever leaving the driveway.

Anna decided yesterday to take her bicycle (with training wheels) on our walk. This was the first time she had taken her bike out of the driveway, so I asked Joey to stay close with her, especially when she was going down hills. I was afraid she wouldn't be able to stop well, or would turn to fast and flip. Well, she took off down the street (downhill) and then realized she had no idea how to stop. Joey didn't realize that she didn't know how to use the brakes. We both look up and she is halfway down the hill with her feet off the pedals, screaming because she didn't know how to stop. Joey took off and caught her before she wrecked - I didn't realize just how fast he could run!! They spent the next 15 minutes with him teaching her how to "pedal backwards" to make the bike stop. She now has it figured out, and is good to go.

Oh, and the blue jeans that weren't pretty enough for school in the wintertime, are obviously pretty enough to wear for a walk in 90 degree heat (with a shirt that has sequin trim, and some black patent dress shoes). I tried to warn her that the she would get too hot, but she didn't listen. She was miserably hot by the time we made it back. Today, she wore a skort! Much better choice!!
